Microsoft 365 Certified: Microsoft 365 and AI Services Administrator Associate
An IT administration exam on configuring, securing and governing Microsoft 365 tenants and their AI services, including Copilot and agents. It does not test building AI applications.
What it signals
For hiring managers
- This is an IT-administrator credential for running Microsoft 365 Copilot, agents (Agent 365, Entra Agent ID, agent registry) and the surrounding tenant security; it does not test building AI applications or models.
- Still beta as of mid-October 2026: anyone who 'passed' may not yet hold the credential until the exam goes live and is rescored. No official practice assessment exists yet (usually within 8 weeks of GA).
- It arrives as MS-102 and the Expert-level Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert retire on 2026-11-30. Microsoft lists 'Related exams: none' and does not formally call AB-650 the replacement, but the tenant/Entra/Defender/Purview content heavily overlaps, so treat it as the de facto successor at Associate rather than Expert level.
- Roughly 40-45% of the blueprint is general M365 identity/security/compliance (Entra, Conditional Access, Defender for Office 365, Purview DLP/labels), so it is also a solid M365 admin signal, not just an AI one.
- Annual renewal is an unproctored open-book quiz, so a multi-year-old credential rests on one proctored sitting.
Verifying it
Candidate shares a link from their Microsoft Learn profile: either a per-credential Share link (credentials carry an 'Online Verifiable' tag) or a transcript share link / PDF. The Learn profile must be in public view for the shared credential to be verifiable. Note beta passers only receive the credential after the exam goes live and is rescored.
